Pinterest Project: Coffee Filter Lamp Shade

We have been trying to get our guest room in order for the past few months. But it's hard living in a townhouse where you only have two rooms! Our "guest room" has been the "catch-all room" since we got married and moved in last summer! Since my classes are winding down for the semester, I have become more determined to work on our place.

I FINALLY printed off some wedding pictures. It's only been, what, 11 months? (SAD!)

While we were in town for the wedding of one of Aaron's best friends from high school, my mom and I went and bought paint. I am going to paint an old chest of drawers (I call them "Chester drawers") a yellow color called Cheerful. It is PERFECT. My favorite color is yellow, so I may be a little biased.

I cannot wait to start. I may actually start this weekend, I am THAT excited.

I have also been looking around on Pinterest for some ideas to decorate. The bedding is a blue, green, yellow mix and the dresser will be the big pop of color. I have a huge mirror that I want to put in the guest room too.

I am getting side-tracked.

Yesterday, I have an idea. I remembered something I had seen on Pinterest. I had an old lamp from my childhood bedroom that had somehow found its way to Fayetteville in all of our things. I was so excited that I didn't take a "before" picture of the lamp. Just trust me, it was in need of a facelift. It was an off-white with little faded pink and blue flowers on it, cute for a little girl but not a twenty-something year old married woman.

Pinterest: Coffee Filter Lamp Shade -- here's the link where I found the instructions!

So basically, I ran out and got my supplies, and decided I was only going to work on it off and on as a "study break" (I had a big test this morning).

Well....it ended up taking about two hours total (off and on) but I just HAD to finish it last night. I literally would not have been able to sleep if I hadn't. (Crazy much?)

Here's before:

Here's after:
How cute is this?!

ta-da!

I may have a huge blister on one finger due to a hot glue gun burn and I painstakingly stuck on over 300 coffee filters for a few hours BUT...I am SO happy with the end product. It's going to look so cute on my yellow chest of drawers! Thanks Pinterest ;)

Have a lovely day!

Confessional Thursday: Link-up with A Blonde Ambition Blog

Today I am doing my first blog link-up with Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition Blog

First things first....

1) I have NO idea what I am doing. I'm not kidding! I'm still new to the blogging world and am kind of "technologically challenged" - to put it nicely...sooo let's just hope this works!

2) I made a batch of my mom's yummy sausage balls on Tuesday afternoon and have been eating them at almost every meal since! (EMBARASSING!)

Y'all. They are so good. SO good.

3) On a brighter note, I have been eating healthier at other meals so it kind of balances right? RIGHT?!

4) I'm making a mental note to throw away said sausage balls before I get myself into trouble....."Step away from the sausage balls and no one's figure gets hurt!"

5) I am obsessed with this song. OBSESSED. Listened to it on repeat all morning. Currently listening to it as I type. Apparently I am a 20-something year old "Gleek" and I am NOT ASHAMED!

Glee Cast: "How Will I Know?"

Go listen to it right now. It's amazing. Whitney would be so proud!

6) I am ashamed of numbers 2-5 so far....

7) Okay, now for a real confession... Have you ever felt like you are that friend that always has to put in the time and effort to make a relationship work because you know the other person won't? Ugh. I have been feeling like that a lot lately. I want my friendships to last, but I don't want them to be one-sided.

8) I really have been wanting to try a new exercise regimen. Like yoga or Pilates or barre. Even if it's just a fad for me, I think right now I need a little change!
Doesn't that look FUN?!

I am so excited about my first link-up! YAY!!

Have a lovely day,
Holly

April Showers...and Weddings

This month has been overwhelming, exciting, draining, fun, but mainly just BUSY!

We have had to drive down to Central AR for the past 4 weekends. That means leaving Friday after Aaron gets off work (or earlier) and not getting back until late Sunday night. I am beat. I feel like a chicken running around with its head cut off! WHEW!

We have had showers and wedding festivities to attend. We have had belated birthday dinners and lots of fast food meals on the road (YUCK!) and definitely have not gotten enough sleep.

Amy's shower went well (two weekends ago) and we had a good turnout despite the fact that most people were with their families for Easter weekend. We had Joshua's belated bday dinner at my grandparents' house on Saturday. My mom gave Aaron and I cute Easter baskets full of goodies. (THANKS MOM!) She's the best. Then we drove up to Searcy and spent Easter Sunday with my in-laws. I wish I could say that I had a cute Easter picture to share...but let's just say that my BIL isn't a professional photographer. LOL. Anyways, we looked cute. :) My husband ran in to a million people he knew on our way in to church (we didn't go to the same church growing up, so I hardly knew a soul) and he "got to talking" with an old boss of his and we were late to the service and had to end up sitting on the 3rd row....if anyone knows me, I don't like sitting that close to the front. :\

After church we went back to my in-laws' house and had lunch. During lunch, my FIL asked if we had a will -obviously we haven't made a will out yet, we haven't even been married a whole year- and then proceeded to ask if he could have our dog if we both happened to "go" at the same time.

.....um......

.......whaaat?

Is there something wrong with that or is it just me? I better watch my back ;) HA.

So yeah... that's how MY Easter went.

On a happier note, we had Amy and Clay's wedding festivities this weekend. Friday was rehearsal and then dinner at Whole Hog BBQ in Little Rock. It was laid back and great to meet and visit with everyone! :) Saturday, the bridesmaids got our hair done and after lunch, got ready for pictures! Amy had picked out great one-shoulder, purple dresses for us to wear and everyone looked so cute! She and Clay tied the knot on April 14th 2012 at Alda's Magnolia Hill in Little Rock. It was perfect! Now for pictures!!

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for...

1) Smoothies. Oh my word. I love this smoothie place in town. It's called Inta Juice. We went by yesterday AND I stopped by before my class today! I will NOT go tomorrow.....well probably not...maybe not....crap. I may end up going by again tomorrow. I'm so excited that I may have found a just-as-yummy alternative to Starbucks! Plus, it's not as expensive AND it's healthier! Go me! :)

2) Sunshine. Yesterday was not too warm and beautiful. Today was the same! The sun was out, white fluffy clouds were out, it was great! Marley and I went on a long walk today and by the time we got back he was worn out...aka he's still napping. Is there anything better than a warm, clear, sunny day? (Answer: NO.)

I want this! :)

3) My mom. She's always there to talk to if I need her. Even if it's just a text. She's always has good advice and is encouraging and supportive!

AMEN!

4) Long-overdue catch-ups with good friends. (self-explanatory)

duh.

5) On Demand. Thanks, cable company! I love that I can catch up on shows I have missed whenever I want! Plus it is nice that when Aaron and I are having a lazy night, we can just search our On Demand and look up episodes of shows that we like! Currently we are HOOKED on The Big Bang Theory. It's hilarious and witty with just the right amount of sarcasm! Loveee it!

Be thankful today!

Thrifting

Okay...I may or may not have a new obsession.

I met up with my friend Amanda today and after a deeelicious smoothie and a little boutique shopping, she mentioned going to a thrift store in Fay called The Potter's House. I don't know that much about it, but some of the proceeds go to charity. It is a Christian-based organization.

So basically,  I love thrifting. (OH LAWD!)

We had SO much fun checking out all the quirky merchandise.

Take this candle for example...

Yes....it's a sheep dog candle.

Amanda found some great things, including a set of shelves that she's going to make-over for her kitchen. I ended up with some metal candlesticks that I'm planning on giving a face-lift to, once I get all the old wax off them. I also found a quirky little tin punched pig! It was my "little piece of happy" of the day!

I love this so much! It goes perfectly with my pig/Razorback theme in my kitchen!

Isn't it adorable!? I am in love with this little pig. It's so fun and quirky! It's going to make a great little conversation piece! :) I'm thinking about painting the frame black or red, to go along with my Razorback/pig theme in the kitchen.

Well, I'm off to clean my candlesticks!

Have a lovely day,
Holly

Tuesday Thoughts

Happy Tuesday!

This past weekend was so fun! Friday night was one of my best friend's (from college) Bachelorette night! We had dinner at Samurai in Little Rock and then went back to her sister's (MOH) house and had her lingerie shower! So much FUN! I didn't take any pictures at dinner - sad - but our chef was just too funny that we spent most of our dinner cracking up at his jokes and poor english pronunciations! He was the most entertaining hibachi chef I have ever had!

I DID take some pictures at the lingerie shower BUT I promised Amy (bride-to-be) that I wouldn't post any publicly. So I'm either emailing her the photos or putting them in a private FB album. BUT here is a picture of her cake!
how fun?!

Speaking of FB...my husband deactivated his. He never uses it. I wish I could deactivate mine, but I just know EVERYONE would miss me too much! HA! ;) juuust kidding... But I value my ability to "creep" on people at a whim (insert evil laugh) and it is nice to be able to keep up with family that we don't get to see often! So basically, I won't be getting rid of my FB any time soon...maybe....

Back to my weekend recap.

Saturday was the couples/Honey-Do shower for Amy and Clay (her fiancé). It was good to meet Clay's friends/groomsmen and their ladies! They got a lot of goodies and I got to see some of my pledge sisters from college!

Saturday night we had dinner with my family. After dinner I had the random idea to have a "S'more Night" so my mom got the goods and my dad started a fire on the deck.  Don't worry, the fire was IN a fire pit. :) Safety first...

this ball entertained our fur ball for most of the night

On Sunday, Aaron got up and offered to spray my dad's yard with the chemical he brought for my dad. He actually enjoys walking slowly around a yard for hours on end spraying chemical. What a sweetie. He did the front, back, and side yards in about 3 hours. Oh, did I mention he bought a "backpack sprayer" that he was oh-so-excited about? He was like a kid at Christmas time! Hilarious!

ahh..he's so handsome :)))

so excited to try out the sprayer!

Okay, I think this post has gotten long enough! That's all for now! Happy Tuesday!

Have a lovely day!
